Swansea Hackspace is a collaborative, community-run space, where enthusiasts from various fields – electronics, textiles, science, digital art, crafting – join forces, share their knowledge, learn, and work on their projects. Situated in Swansea, this space thrives on the vibrant energy of its diverse members, making continuous improvements and developments in their selected areas.
Having recently reopened for events and visitors, Swansea Hackspace offers a unique support system to those passionate about technology and innovation. They hold weekly meetings on Mondays from 7 pm where individuals can observe the ongoing refurbishments and possibly provide inputs. This initiative underscores the cooperative spirit of the Hackspace, where member contribution is appreciated and encouraged.
The Hackspace community believes in the power of open dialogue and inventive exchange. To facilitate this, they host online discussions on their Discord server, allowing members to stay connected, share their progress, and seek advice when needed. In addition, they host regular workshops (the next one being scheduled for 18th October) enhancing the skill set of their members and fueling their creative passion.
Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 restrictions, Swansea Hackspace is committed to renovating and relocating to a new space on Park Street in the city centre. Although this endeavour is in progress, the community strives to adapt and overcome, promising exciting updates soon. This adaptability is a testament to their unwavering dedication towards fostering an environment of creativity and innovation.
Priming for an inclusive community, Swansea Hackspace is not just a shared workplace but a dedicated platform for ideation, conversation, and actualization. By coupling shared knowledge with shared resources, they aim to turn creative ideas into a tangible reality. Thus, Swansea Hackspace stands not just as a physical location but as a nurturing community for passion, creativity, and innovation.
